A UNIQUE year-long creative project which has brought together pupils from across Northumberland has been brought to a conclusion.
Students from three Northumberland schools have been taking part in the Young Creatives initiative where they have been involved in a range of creative challenges throughout the school year.

This has included presentation and confidence development with TV vocal coaches David and Carrie Grant and a residential weekend exploring the making of live television programmes and the demands of working to deadlines.

The students had the chance to use the skills they've learnt in a week-long summer school which culminates on Friday with the production of an 'as-live' television programme where students took part in every aspect of creating a television programme.

The project – which has been devised and run by Creative Partnerships Northumberland, in partnership with Northumberland County Council Children Services – has involved a cross section of young people from three high schools - Astley High School, Prudhoe High School and St Benet Biscop Catholic High School in Bedlington.

The Creative Partnerships Northumberland project has worked to creatively transform education in partnership with schools, helping to give school children throughout England the opportunity to develop their potential, their ambition, their creativity and imagination through sustainable partnerships with creative and cultural organisations, businesses and individuals.

Head of programme for Creative Partnerships Northumberland Sarah Rutherford said: "Creative Partnerships Northumberland aims to show young people pathways through to employment and demystify the creative industries.

"The Young Creatives programme is giving these youngsters a chance to get involved in live projects with real outcomes."
