Leisure costs no help for children

LAST year in the school summer holidays, my ten-year-old great-grandson and his friend went to Newbiggin Leisure Centre with £5 to play badminton.

They were told the cost was £5.50.

They pointed out the courts were empty, but £5.50 it was, so they got their swimming trunks and a towel and walked to Ashington, went swimming, walked back home and said they had a great time and had enjoyed their day.

If a leisure centre is built at a cost of £20m, how much will it cost for the children in the sumer holidays?

Should it not be £1 for half an hour for schoolchildren? The courts might then be full.
