THE art of storytelling is aiming to make a resurgence in Northumberland.

Professional storytelling organisation Upon My Word has been set up in Bedlington by Anna Fancett after she moved from Aberdeen.

Storytelling sessions take place in schools, libraries, community centres, youth groups, museums, churches or at private functions.

Anna said: “Many people don’t really know what storytelling is.

“It is the telling of stories without the aid of books or any other form of media.

“Storytelling can reach back in time to the half-forgotten epics of yesteryear, or can repeat yesterday’s anecdote from the pub.”

Andrea Light, of Treasure Island in Morpeth, said: “We are delighted to have Anna storytelling at Treasure Island every Monday. Storytelling is a great idea that adds something a bit different.”
