A MORPETH school’s relationship with parents has been recognised with an important accolade.

Prospects’ Leading Parent Partnership Award (LPPA) has been presented to Chantry Middle School and Technology College after it impressed assessors with its portfolio.

Their report praises the school for providing a range of courses for parents to support students’ learning and improving its communication with them about activities and achievements.

It adds: “The LPPA process has been integrated into the school in a thoughtful and analytical way.

“There is very much an open door policy and the parents feel that they can approach the school with any concerns and their views will be valued.”

This is now the third verification for the LPPA across The Three Rivers Learning Trust, which includes Newminster Middle and King Edward VI High schools.

Chantry and Newminster executive headteacher Paul Lawrence said: “The new leadership team recognised the improvements the school required if we were to make a real difference to students and their families.

“We are thrilled and excited to gain the LPPA as an essential part of our school improvement work and journey towards excellence.

“I would like to thank parents, both Chantry Three Rivers partnership colleagues and governors, for working so hard to help us gain the evidence required to achieve this national award.”
