Store marks 12 months since petition saved it

A BLYTH shop is celebrating 12 months after it was threatened with closure.

Bonmarche in Keel Row shopping centre survived through the support of a petition.

A year ago the company was taken over by equity group San European Partners

The takeover closed approximately 160 stores throughout the UK, but the Blyth outlet was saved thanks to more than 2,000 signatures on a petition to keep it open.

Store manager Jacqui Wilson said: “It was fantastic when we found out the store would be staying open and it is thanks to our shoppers that we are still here today.”

“We have been in the centre for 22 years now.”
