Let us hear your voices over the site for hospital

HAVING read a letter in the News Post Leader recently from a resident of East Cramlington re the new emergency hospital, I would like to say that I agree with everything the gentleman said regarding the bypassing of existing hospitals.

And, also, the roads in this area would not be suitable for the volume of traffic that would be expected for this type of hospital.

I personally have complained to the police about the speed of traffic in this area and I am amazed that there have not been more serious accidents although accidents have occurred.

I was aware of reports of a hospital to be built 'near the Moor Farm roundabout', but was shocked to learn, just before Christmas, that the preferred site for the hospital was the field opposite Lanercost Park.

Presumably the entrance will be almost directly opposite the entrance to Lanercost Park, Beech Avenue and a farm and private dwellings, who all use this entrance.

Also the slip road from the A189 Spine Road is a matter of only a few yards away, as is the entrance to yet another private house.

Problems with traffic are bad enough at the moment without extra traffic whilst building is in progress and eventually when the hospital is built.

I am not opposed to the idea of an emergency hospital, but I firmly believe there are much better sites for this to be built rather than the preferred site at East Cramlington.

If there are other people out there who have views about the siting of this hospital, please let us hear your opinions and also your voices.

Thank you.
