Objections to naked woman landform

IT was with interest that I read the article "Beauty on the opencast site" (News Post Leader, June 11) which described plans by UK Coal at Stobswood for the restoration of the site.

Whilst I am no fan of opencast mining it was good to read that the mine "is to be transformed into an area of natural beauty featuring a host of environmental measures". In other words, an area which may be enjoyed by a family having a day out.

What do we have planned by Banks at Shotton (Cramlington)? A naked reclining female figure, 400m in length and 34m high. I don't mind a family-friendly park, but I, and many others, object to a naked woman being imposed on the landscape, no matter who the designer is.

Any consultation with the public or even the designated liaison committee about possible designs?
