Stampede on for charity challenge

I WOULD like to invite readers to step up to the challenge and sign up to the Newcastle Stampede on Sunday, October 16, to help the British Heart Foundation (BHF).

This 10k run across natural rugged terrain at Newcastle Racecourse includes unique and various obstacles designed by the Royal Marines to push the limits of all abilities and fitness levels.

It’s a cross country run with an edge.

Sold out last year, it is back by popular demand.

It’s a great day out for friends, family and colleagues and the chance to do something just a little bit different to have fun, get fit and save lives.

I know that heart disease touches people of all ages. Sadly it is still the nation’s biggest killer.

Lives are cut short, and for those living with heart disease, life can be frightening and hard.

Despite major advances in heart research, education and care, there is still a huge amount to learn, and a lot of work to be done.

We urgently need the support of people like your readers to help us continue our life-saving work in what is our 50th anniversary year.

Register online at bhf.org.uk/newcastle or call 0800 169 3672, or e-mail northwestwales@bhf.org.uk for entry forms.

The British Heart Foundation is also hosting a Race Day at Newcastle Racecourse for its Mending Broken Hearts Appeal and is urging local businesses to consider sponsorship and hospitality packages available to help the cause.

The event takes place on Wednesday, September 28, and you can find out more at bhf.org.uk/newcastleraceday
