Schools are invited to go extra mile for Sport Relief

SCHOOLS and early years groups are being invited to put on their running shoes for charity.

The groups are being urged to get active for Sport Relief weekend, which will start on Friday, March 23.

In 2010, schools and early years groups in the north east raised £190,000 for the charity drive, and organisers are hoping to beat that figure this year.

A free School Fundraising Resource Pack has been created to help teachers, featuring fundraising ideas, posters, balloons, stickers and more.

Schools are also invited to take part in Sainsbury’s Sport Relief Mile with pupils able to complete the course by running, skipping, dancing or more.

Aleks Leimanis, schools and youth manager at Comic Relief, said: “Schools and early years groups are some of the best fundraisers for Sport Relief and we are eternally grateful for their dedication and hard work.”
