Beeswing played a selection of songs depicting the serious side of mining, disasters in the coalfields, conflict between workers and owners, plus some of the more humorous moments - all with hearty sing-along choruses.
The band has been together for many years, comprising Keith Blackburn from Blyth Valley Samba, Dave Minikin, Christine Savage, Fraser Gill, and Ray Derrick, with individual members boasting years of singing experience.
Their music celebrates the regions mining heritage and dialect, and the Mining Institute at Newcastle provided an ideal platform for the band.
Beeswing are keen to perform at venues across the county, and anyone interested in booking the band should contact Dave Minikin on (0191) 237 6249 or 07967 198430, or e mail
