Jonny to star at folk club gig

AN award-winning folk performer is coming to Ashington Folk Club this weekend.
Jonny Kearney, winner of the Alan Hull award for song writing, has been confirmed as Ashington Folk Club's first guest act for 2008.

Now in his final year of the Newcastle University Folk and Traditional Music Degree, 21-year-old singer songwriter Jonny Kearney has worked alongside such folk luminaries as Kathryn Tickell, Martin Carthy and John Renbourne.

Jonny will be performing Thursday, March 13, in the Folk Bar at The Miners Institute, Institute Road, Ashington at 8.30pm.

Admission is £2 on the door.
