A MOTORIST managed to escape his car which drove into Blyth Harbour with the help of a passer-by last night.
Police received reports at around 9pm last night that a Vauxhall Corsa had driven into the water at Blyth Harbour from the Cambois side of the harbour.

The driver was able to escape the vehicle with the help of a member of the public at the scene, before the car sank.

Police and ambulance crews attended the scene, and the driver was examined by paramedics.

This afternoon, police divers from the marine unit attended the scene to help recover the vehicle.
