A BLYTH mother-of-two has become a local celebrity after being chosen to star in a poster campaign.
Linda Parker has worked for Weir Insurance Brokers in Stanley Street, Blyth, for almost three decades, and will now see her face plastered across a telephone box in the town.
Weir Insurance won £1,000 worth of poster advertising after attending a workshop run by new online company Signposter.com
The company attended the event to learn more about Signposter.com but were surprised to win the prize.
The company decided to create a new 'family' of press adverts using the faces of some of its longest serving staff.
The poster, at Waterloo Road, Blyth, went live last week for a six-week period, and features Linda holding a passport to promote Weir's new online travel insurance service.
Linda, 44, said: "I couldn't believe it when I was walking into work and I saw my face up on the side of the telephone box.
"I feel like a local celebrity as I have taken so many phone calls from friends, neighbours and potential clients saying that they've seen the poster.
"It really goes to show that outdoor advertising does work."
The free advertising workshop saw top London advertising executives fly in to help local businesses use Signposter.com's easy online system – for designing and buying outdoor posters, bus sides and bus shelters at sites across the north east – at the click of a button.
