The meeting will take place on Monday, July 21, at 7.15pm in Seaton Delaval Arts Centre, formerly the Salvation Army Hall.
The National Trust recently announced that it would put forward more than £6m from its own resources to provide an endowment to look after the house and surrounding land, but that a further £6m must be found from public donations and fundraising if the property is to be saved.
National Trust regional co-ordinator Liz Fisher will be at the meeting to listen and talk to residents.
Free community transport will be provided for members of the public living nearby, and anyone who has special needs can be collected from home.
The WATbus will be picking up from Seaton Sluice, Seghill and New Hartley community Centres from around 6.45pm and will be able to take residents back to these centres after the meeting.
Blyth Valley Borough Council's Coun Susan Dungworth, who has organised the meeting, said: "The National Trust is keen to hear from the local community, they want residents to express their views and also hear from those who willing to help fundraise.
"It is an excellent opportunity to have a say in the matter and I would urge as many people as possible to come along."
