There were gardeners in the 'OK Corral' – sorry, Vernon Place – actually taking out the dead pine trees and replacing them with yet more pine or fir trees.
These no doubt will soon die the same as the last ones.
Do the council not consult proper gardeners before wasting a fortune?
Even local people could tell them that these trees do not survive on the seafront.
They may last until Prince Edward has been, which is probably why they were replaced anyway.
I wondered if they were going to strategically place people on the mainly empty sand-pit – sorry – beach too?
It is also a good job he did not bring his mum's corgis though, as the 'spies' would have been out and he could have been fined!
As you can tell I'm yet another disgruntled dog walker who does pick up after the dog.
The beach may look good, albeit dangerous, but what good is an empty beach?
It will never be as busy as years gone by as people want heat when on holiday, and we may be lucky for a few weeks in the summer.
All these children that they "worry" about don't want to play on there nowadays – we had no choice when we were younger, we had very little else to do.
The seashore now looks like a quarry edge the slope is so steep, how long before a youngster gets into difficulties?
Also who else in their right mind apart from a dog walker or a fisherman would venture onto the beach in winter when there is a force ten gale blowing?
By the way, I see nothing has been done about the horse that is on there nearly every day.
Give them a bag too!
