Published Date: 10 July 2008
THROUGHOUT recent weeks we have heard various rumours about Blyth losing its Post Office, following the announcement of the decision by the Co-op to close down its store.
These rumours have been varied and worrying to many people who are users of the Post Office and as a result several people have contacted me asking all kinds of questions.

Some had been told the Post Office was reverting back to its former premises, some told Blyth Valley Borough Council were taking over the Post Office, the rumours were numerous and sometimes frightening, as these were completely untrue.

However, all is sorted now and on behalf of many of my electorate I would like to thank the management of Woodcock's Blyth, for providing part of their premises in Commercial Road to be our new Post Office.

I also thank Mr and Mrs Trinder for taking over the Post Office and for their tremendous efforts to have the office open on time, I wish them all the best for the future and every success in their new venture and
I hope they have many enjoyable years serving the people of Blyth, as I did.

The last but not least thanks, must go the Post Office Property Projects Team for their hard work and dedication in finding an applicant, suitable premises, making all the necessary arrangements and for completing a task which would normally take 4/6 months in 3/4 weeks, otherwise as many people had feared, Blyth would have been without a Post Office!

I am sure the people of Blyth will join me in saying "Thank You for the Post Office".

COUNCILLOR COLIN BROWN
Independent
Plessey Ward,
Blyth Valley Council.
