LAST Thursday was a good day in more ways than one. First of all the News Post Leader gets delivered and this brings me up to date with the local news, second we had a special visit by none other than Prince Edward.
What a day for Newbiggin, kids and older people alike out on the
streets with Union flags cheering the royal visitor.

The town looked good with flowers on show, little boats sailing in the bay and a general good will feel to the day with the sun
trying its best to shine.

But why did we have such a visit. I am sure it was of the many
initiatives that have transformed Newbiggin over the past few years that attracted this visit and especially the events that have taken place over the past year. The Couple, the first offshore public artwork, the fantastic beach, the breakwater and above all the community spirit it has engendered in the residents of this township.

We all have a knock at Wansbeck District Council at differing times but
I have to admit I am happy with the partnership working that they have facilitated ensuring that not only did we benefit from the money for the sea defences but for other initiatives that have added value to this project.

No one expected a royal visit to happen and it was sprung as a surprise to us all.

Well done Wansbeck Council, show those people at county how to do things and let's hope they carry on your good work after next March.

Newbiggin Residents
