Newcastle Airport is concerned that the windmill will affect the radar at the airport, risking lives. The council rejected this.
Now there are reports of bats being killed by going too close to the windmills in other parts of the world.
They are not killed by the blades but by the wind vacuum which affects the blood vessels in their lungs and causes internal bleeding.
I know there were bats very close to my home before the wind farm arose, but they have since disappeared. Could it be due to the wind farm?
Even if that isn't the cause, the fact that this new windmill will be bigger than any other in Europe is a cause for concern.
What tests have been done to be sure that wildlife, and humans, will not be affected by this monstrosity?
If smaller wind turbines can cause problems for bats who have weak respiratory systems, what can this massive one do to people who live near by and who also have weak respiratory systems? Has anyone ever checked this out?
I believe we are being used as guinea pigs in this instance, and I believe the only reason Wansbeck Council agreed to this was that they were disappearing from the local radar, and the new unitary authority, which is clearly not liked by the present local councils, will be expected to take any flak that arises later.
I believe this was a massive mistake, as big as the proposed wind turbine itself, and the possible repercussions are immense too.
Little thought was given to this matter, and little research done prior to this event.
The people of Wansbeck and Blyth are going to have to bear the brunt of this error. Are they truly prepared to do this?
