Skateboarders are in despair in town

I WAS intrigued to read the statement in the advertisement by the Labour Party entitled "A new council –a new way forward with Labour".
The final sentence at the bottom of the page referred to more investment in schemes like the Alexandra Park Youth Plaza.

This week I had a chat with skateboarders who were in despair because they had been skateboarding in the large Aldi car park away from parked cars and been told to clear off. I have written to Aldi to see if we can come to some compromise to help these young people.

It all started two years ago when the News Post Leader reported that young people had been kicked off the Manor Walks car parks. I saw the centre manager but there was no chance of any further skateboarding.

The youngsters pursued the democratic route, raised a petition and money was allocated. But two long years later some of the original students will now be at University!

It is a disgrace that these decent young people have been chased from place to place and still they do not have the facilities that were promised them.

What an example to set. The promise is for more investment in Alexandra Park - what's the point if nothing has yet been built using the previous investment?
