This is an appeal to your readers for anyone who may be interested in assisting with a study of women's roles in Northumberland coalfield communities during and after the 1984-5 Miners Strike. Specifically, I am interested in changes in careers, social activities and political/community participation.

I am a history undergraduate from Northumberland, and am currently carrying out research for my final year dissertation.

I would very much appreciate the opportunity to meet with, correspond, or talk by phone if more convenient, with any person with memories or materials they have collected which are relevant to the family and community experiences of women in coalfield communities at that time.

All participants are welcome; both women and men, those who stayed out on strike and those who returned to work, or those who were in the area at the time but were not directly involved in the mining industry

Any participant may remain anonymous if they should desire it so.
