SO, Cramlington has now lost their middle schools forever.
The last few weeks have been a very sad and emotional time for everyone involved with these schools.

I have been a governor at Parkside Middle School for the last three years and I am very proud and honoured to have been involved with such a fantastic school.

We had an amazing team there, led by a brilliant headteacher.

I feel so sorry for the children who will never get the opportunity to attend Parkside Middle; they really will miss out on so much.

Even though the staff – and children – at Parkside have had an extremely difficult few years, they have just achieved their best ever
Key Stage 2 results.

For those who aren't familiar with SATS results, the average score at Key Stage 2 (end of Year 6) for children to achieve is Level 4.

Parkside achieved 100 per cent of children at level 4 or above in
science, 93 per cent in English and 89 per cent in maths.

These results mean that Parkside is in the top 25 per cent of schools in England and Wales at Key Stage 2.

I would like to take this opportunity to congratulate the staff and children on these fantastic results – you should all be extremely proud of yourselves.

I shall be watching the results from the new Primary Schools very closely next year to see the promised improvement – after all, this was the council's main reason for change to two tier schooling.

ANN WINCH
Governor,
Parkside Middle School,
Cramlington.
