I AM writing on behalf of RWE npower to say thank you to everyone who attended the opening of the former Blyth Power Station Gatehouse as an information drop in centre.
Currently, we are only at the stage of investigating whether or not a new station would be possible.

We are in the middle of conducting in depth environmental studies and consulting with local people.

The purpose of opening the Gatehouse is to give the local community an opportunity to meet the npower team and learn more about our work in the area. We want to engage with the local community and listen to local views and suggestions about a possible new power station.

Around 15 people attended the first afternoon, and even though we are in the early stages of looking into the feasibility of a new station, the views of local people are very important to us.

The Gatehouse opening follows the 'meet the team' events we held in Cambois and Blyth in December 2007 and it was pleasing to see that the prospect of a new power station does have some support in the area.

However, we also recognise that people have questions and queries, and we are open to listening to views and suggestions.

The Gatehouse will be open every Thursday in June from 2pm to 6pm and anyone that would like to drop in to discuss anything relating to a possible new power station is welcome.

I would be delighted to meet with people face to face to talk about the plans in more detail.

For anyone who can't make any of our Gatehouse events, but would like to get in contact or indeed anyone who has attended and wants to know more, we have an email address and hotline number dedicated to a new power station at Cambois.

If you want to get in touch please email contact@npowerblyth.co.uk or call 0845 136 0105.

Once again, a very big thank you to everyone who came along to opening of the Gatehouse and to all those who have shown interest so far.

REAY CHARLTON
Operations Development Group,
RWE npower
