I WOULD be obliged if I could, through your letters pages, contact any of your readers who may have been pupils at the, now sadly closed, Brownrigg Camp School in Bellingham in the North Tyne Valley.
The school operated from 1945 until it finally closed in 1985 and over the intervening 40 years many, many children from Mid Northumberland enjoyed the unique experience that the school offered with its mix of academic studies and outdoor activities,
which encompassed hikes, field trips and camping expeditions all over the hills and fells in the beautiful North Tyne countryside.

The school put a great emphasis on sport, particularly football, and the games masters were extremely pleased to augment the school side with a seemingly endless supply of talented lads from your area, many of whom had already represented East Northumberland Boys before arriving at Brownrigg.

This year's reunion takes place over the weekend of June 13, 14 and 15, and will be particularly memorable as, for the first time ever, we have been granted permission to have access to the former school site and view the remaining buildings including our former assembly hall, sick-bay, dining hall and the school farm.

In addition we will have several events including a barbecue, a dance and a tour of the area by vintage bus.

We already have confirmed attendance from several people now living far afield, including two from Ashington and a couple from Blyth now resident in Australia, an ex-Lynemouth lad living in Morocco plus many more from all over the UK.

We welcome Brownriggers from all eras of the school's existence and will be delighted to see them all back at Bellingham, visiting old haunts and meeting old friends.

Full information about the Brownrigg Reunion is available from myself at the numbers below.
