AMATEUR performers are gearing up to sing about some of their favourite things when a production comes to Blyth.
The town will be alive with The Sound of Music as Blyth Music and Theatre Company perform the popular show at the Phoenix Theatre, Blyth, from March 5 to 10.
The cast includes many relatives including 14-year-old Shaunagh Kelly, from Whitley Bay, and who has also appeared in Annie and is part of the national tour of Chitty Chitty Bang Bang.
She will play Liesl while her younger brother Alfie will also be on stage.
Ryan Duffy, 17, from Bedlington, who is studying at the Newcastle Performing Arts Academy, plays Rolf the messenger boy.
Other cast members who are related include Whitley Bay mother and daughter Jackie and Ellie Burke, playing a nun and Louisa; husband and wife Jonny and Helen Cash, playing Maria and Georg von Trapp; John and Alison Charlton, as Mother Abess and the Priest; Trevor and Judith Bell, playing Franz and Sister Bertha; sisters Alison Charlton and Janet Peel, playing Mother Abess and a nun.
There is also mother, daughter and son Susan, Joanne and Stuart Laws playing a nun, postulant and guard; Cramlington mother and daughter Lucy and June Fisher playing Brigitta and housekeeper; siblings Cameron, Holly and Madeline Swan, playing Friedrich, Marta and Gretyl von Trapp.
Performances will be at 7.15pm each night with a 2pm matinee on Saturday. Tickets cost between £8 and £11.
