AN ASHINGTON based melodic metal band are in the running to win a major battle of the bands style competition.

Ball Of Mayhem have been chosen to take part in Newcastle 02 Academy’s NExposure competition on August 5, where unsigned bands from around the north east battle it out on both stages.

Band member David Chrisp said: “The competition is judged entirely on audience votes so we need as many people there as possible to stand a chance of winning.

“Everyone gets two votes, one for the band you came to see and one other, it was this second vote that lead to us to miss out winning last year.

“We’ve had an exciting time the past 12 months or so – our single Obliteration Imminent won the award for song of they year by Florida-based internet TV and radio show Sunset Island Music, a category that had over 30,000 entries, and we came first.”

Tickets for the NExposure competition are available from the band priced at £6.50 of from the Academy.
