THANKS to a grant from the London-based Concertina Trust to Wansbeck Male Voice Choir, the members of Ellington and Lynemouth Over 60s Club were given an evening of free entertainment.

Club spokeswoman Sadie Williamson said the evening was thoroughly enjoyed by the members.

The choir has also been supported by Ashington Town Council with a grant towards new music.

The choir took the opportunity to use the venue for a presentation to George Latimer, from Ashington, who has retired after 46 years service to the group.

In recognition of his service, George and his wife Joyce were presented with an engraved crystal vase and bouquet of flowers by choir chairman Peter Payne.

The choir are always on the lookout for new members and any gentleman interested should attend rehearsals at the Hirst Progressive Social Club in North Seaton Road, Ashington, on Monday evenings from 7pm.

For more information about joining, or arranging entertainment, contact the choir secretary on (01670) 860859.
