A new exhibition is on show in Ashington which aims to highlight the history of the region in just 100 objects.
A History of the North East in 100 Objects captures the history of the creativity and innovation of the region.
Bringing together objects from the collections of museums, galleries and archives throughout the north east, it includes the world’s first scientific and technological inventions as well as world-class art.
From well-known objects such as the Turbinia and the Locomotion, there are also more unusual and surprising ones like the world’s first windscreen wiper and a friction match.
Visit Woodhorn to see a memorial glass, Whittle Branch Miners’ Banner and a painting by Pitmen Painter, Oliver Kilbourn.
