Jamie takes star role in pantomime

A BLYTH youngster who performed at this year’s Edinburgh Fringe festival, will take the lead this panto season in a performance of Dick Whittingon.

Jamie Eastlake is fronting up this year’s comedy team in The Phoenix Theatre’s panto in Blyth.

Jamie formed his own company last year and spent a fortnight performing comedy at The Edinburgh Fringe, and feels ready to take on the role.

Jamie said: “The comedy lead in pantomime is a role I have coveted ever since I became involved and I have thoroughly enjoyed creating perhaps one of the daftest characters that I have ever known.

“I suppose I do act a bit daft all the time, so there must be something of me in there somewhere.”

Blyth Phoenix Theatre’s pantomime cast also features experienced performers Claire Thompson and Emma Ward as principal boy and girl providing the love interest, and ‘Dame’ Bob Douglass providing yet more fun and frolics.

Dick Whitting is The Phoenix Theatre’s 45th consecutive pantomime, and will be at the theatre from Saturday, December 3, to Sunday, December 11.

Tickets priced at £11 or £10 for concessions, are available online at www.blythphoenix.com or by calling the box office on (01670) 367228.
