Blyth’s Phoenix Theatre has employed its first professional theatre manager.
Oscar Watson comes to the theatre after years of work in community arts and supporting community enterprises.
He developed a regional network for artists called ‘Intercultural Arts’ based in Newcastle and has a reputation as a successful fundraiser and venue manager.
He has run community centres, pub and community theatres, night-clubs and was responsible for creating the Tristan Bates Theatre at the Actors Centre in London.
Oscar said: “I really want to know what sorts of live entertainment the people of Blyth want to see and, I want to take shows to schools, community centres and anywhere we can find new audiences.”
