NEWCASTLE'S James Milner has emerged as a transfer target for north-east rivals Middlesbrough.
Boro are set to enquire about the availability of the England Under-21 winger again this summer.

A good offer could tempt United manager Kevin Keegan to cash in.

Milner has been an important figure in the Newcastle side for the last two seasons, but is not guaranteed a first-team place.

Despite recovering from a foot injury suffered at Liverpool, the 22-year-old did not even make the substitutes' bench against either Chelsea or Everton.

Boro would not be the only Premier League club interested in Milner if Newcastle do decide to sell.

Aston Villa manager Martin O'Neill would like to take him back to Villa Park, where he spent a successful loan spell in the 2005-06 season.
