A much-loved Brownie leader has said farewell to her girls after 47 years of volunteering.
Pauline Mitchley, from Ashington, had been with the 7th Ashington Brownies since 1968 and has seen more than 400 girls take part in all the adventurous activities the organisation has to offer.
During her career she has also served as Ashington division commissioner, district commissioner, division treasurer, Northumberland county secretary and acted as mentor to many new leaders.
The girls chose to give Pauline a special send-off at her last meeting, presenting her with a card, a vase and a specially commissioned patchwork blanket with squares designed by the current Brownies and leaders.
Each Brownie also gave Pauline daffodils, with a personal message attached.
Pauline said: “It will be a big change, but I will have many happy memories.
“It has been a privilege to see so many Brownies grow up into young women.”
