Families from an area of Blyth enjoyed a fun day out at Beamish Museum thanks to community project.

Newsham Community Matters was launched by Northumberland County Council in March as a way of bringing local residents together and instilling pride in the area.

As part of the initiative, families were offered a day trip to the open air museum during the Easter holidays. A total of 65 children and adults enjoyed a fun-packed outing.

A Community Interest Company is in the process of being set-up so residents can take the project forward.

Irene Willis, a member of the project committee group, said: “We had a fantastic day out. It was lovely to see the children enjoying themselves and the community coming together to create some great memories.”
