Members of a south east Northumberland bowls club will be attempting a marathon challenge in aid of charity next month.
The group at Newbiggin Bowling Club will be taking part in a task in which they aim to raise money for the Great North Air Ambulance.
On Saturday, June 21 – the longest day – four members will be on the green attempting to play the game from first light until nightfall.
It is expected play will run from sunrise at around 4am until 11pm.
The idea for the challenge was proposed by the club’s chairman, Bob Richardson.
The other members playing the full day are Derek Harding and twin brothers Steven and Alan Denton.
Mr Richardson said: “We will be playing against all-comers with short breaks for comfort stops.
“Already we have received pledged donations of more than £400.
“We are looking to publicise the event and make a big day of it with refreshments and a raffle to boost the money we are looking to raise.”
Anyone wishing to take on the fundraising foursome on the Milburn Park bowling green, can do so by turning up on the day.
The club is also looking for a sponsor and anyone interested should call the club on (01670) 851855.
