CHILDREN will be able to enjoy free activities at half-term, thanks to Newbiggin Town Council.
The authority will pay fees for youngsters at a range of pastimes, from archery to cycling and dance, run by Blyth Valley Leisure.
It is hoped the approach will attract more participants than when a similar scheme ran in the summer.
It pulled in only an average of six at each session.
Members felt a £5 cost would be onerous for families with a few children and so those attending should be reimbursed.
It is hoped to publicise the sessions more widely next year with a mailshot to parents.
