Albert celebrates reaching century

A FORMER firefighter has celebrated his 100th birthday with family and friends.

Albert Whyatt was born in Walsall, near Birmingham, but moved to Wansbeck in the 1970s, later marrying Annie Bowel.

There to celebrate his birthday with him were his sister Lillian Hancock, nephew Arthur and nieces Betsy Miles and Rosie Barnett.

Arthur has been a resident at Wansbeck Care Home in West Sleekburn for almost ten years.
