A summer fair has given an after-school club its biggest fundraising success yet.
Stakeford Primary School organised a funfair, crafts, raffle, stalls, circus skills sessions and dance demonstrations for the event last month to raise awareness and cash for the club, as well as promote community spirit.
On the day, officers from Northumbria Police turned up unexpectedly to offer their support, and even let the children take a peek inside their car.
The event raised an impressive £949 for the self-funded after-school club.
PTA spokeswoman Becky Johns said: “That is by far the biggest profit we have ever made.
“There were many people who have never been to the school before. People even turned up and left with school application forms as they were so impressed with the fair and community.”
