Pupils from Horton Grange Primary School had a fin-tastic afternoon when they went along to the Asda store in Blyth for a special fish workshop.

The masterclass – led by Asda Blyth’s fishmonger, David Blackburn – taught the group of children about the importance of a balanced diet that seafood brings to the table and the health benefits.

It also aimed to help them feel more comfortable with fish, with Mr Blackburn teaching them how to prepare a fish and explaining their day-to-day role at the store’s fish counter.

The children finished off their afternoon with Asda Blyth’s community champion, Diane Dinning, who discussed the seasonality of different fruit and vegetables with them and even provided them with some healthy snacks and the traditional Easter favourite, a hot cross bun.
