Hundreds of angels are descending on Northumberland in the run-up to Christmas.

Members and friends of United Reformed churches in Ashington, Blyth, Cramlington, Morpeth and Seaton Delaval have been knitting angels in a host of shapes, sizes and colours.

The angels will be ‘yarn–bombed’ on railings, at bus stops, around shops, in and around the towns and villages during the period December 18 to 20 with the invitation for members of the public to take them away with them as a small message of hope and goodwill to others in the busy lead-up to the festive season.

Services will be at Bothal Church and Trinity Church in Ashington, and Newbiggin’s St Bartholomew’s Church on December 20 at 6pm.
