An appeal has been launched for old photographs depicting the local lifeboat story for a new display.

Newbiggin RNLI is on the look out for old pictures to include in a new developing lifeboat timeline interpretation display.

Richard Martin from Newbiggin RNLI, said: “We are currently working on a project detailing the pictorial history of Newbiggin Lifeboat station to cover our memorable history of lifesaving here for over 163 years.

“The proposal is to publish a timeline that will be fixed onto the boathouse wall and chart the highlights of Newbiggin’s history since the station was established in 1851.

“To deliver the project we need to locate old photographs of Newbiggin lifeboat station whether it is the boathouse, lifeboats or volunteers particularly for the period between 1851 and into 1940s.”

Anyone who has any photos to share can contact the lifeboat operations manager Pauline Cooksey on 07802 155509.
