A council-backed housebuilder has launched into the property market.

Ascent Homes, which is part of Northumberland County Council’s development company Arch, has acquired a number of sites in Blyth, Alnwick, Cramlington and Bebside to develop new properties using local architects, consultants and trades.

And its first development, Windsor View in Newbiggin-by-the-Sea, will offer 24 homes, with a mix of bungalows, semi-detached, detached and townhouse properties for sale. The government-backed Help To Buy scheme is also available.

Arch projects director Duncan Bowman said: “The launch of Ascent Homes into the market is an exciting proposition for all involved.”
