A armed robber was left empty handed after an attempted shop robbery in Northumberland.

The man, armed with a knife, entered Newsham Farm Stores, in Druridge Drive, Blyth, between 3pm and 3.24pm on Saturday, August 22.

He demanded cash but the staff member refused and the offender left empty handed, heading off towards Beadnel.

The offender is described as a white man, slim build with a distinctive pointed nose. He was wearing sunglasses and a blue hooded top, with the hood up and dark coloured jogging bottoms.

Police are appealing for witnesses.
