TEENAGER Ashleigh Charlton hit all the right notes to win a school talent contest.
The Year 10 student has been named as young musician of the year at Bede Academy in Blyth after impressing the judges with her rendition of Giacomo Puccini’s Nessun Dorma.
The 14-year-old, a member of the Tyne Theatre Stage School in Newcastle, came second last year, so she was delighted to go one better and come out on top.
She said: “It was quite emotional performing, and I thought I had done okay, but I was really surprised to win when everyone else was so good.”
Mark Emmonds came second and Jack Herron was third.
Teacher Geoff Lloyd said: “Ashleigh’s performance was amazing and incredibly emotional.
“We are sure that she will one day achieve her ambition to sing on the professional stage.”
