Authors to talk about their books

Two celebrated authors are set to cross examine each other about their most closely guarded crime writing secrets in a writers’ event.

Celebrated northern authors, Mari Hannah and David Jackson will be the first guests of a new collaboration between Bedlington Community Centre and Northumberland Library Service to bring author events to south east Northumberland.

Jackie Auld, a volunteer at the centre, said: “In this corner of the county, author events are glaring by their absence. Our local libraries are suffering from severe cuts in funding, as I know they are in many other areas too, and the libraries themselves are mostly too small to host large author events.”

Mari Hannah has recently been shortlisted for the Polari First Book Prize, and on October 15, her crime series was launched in America.

David Jackson’s first novel featuring New York detective, Callum Doyle, received a highly commended accolade in the CWA Debut Dagger Award.

Mari and David will talk about their books and their protagonists, answer questions from the audience and will also sign copies of their books at Bedlington Community Centre on Saturday, November 16, at 7pm.

Tickets are £5 and are available by calling (01670)824141 or emailing bedlingtoncommunitycentre@hotmail.co.uk
