A south east Northumberland primary school has won a prestigious award for the excellence of its school meals.
Newsham Primary School in Blyth was presented with the Primary School Catering Team of the Year 2015 – Highly Commended Award at an event at Hardwick.
The Lead Association for Catering in Education (LACA) Awards for Excellence North East and Scotland acknowledges teams of people and individuals who continue to make a real difference in education catering.
Newsham headteacher, Anne-Marie Armstrong, said: “We are thrilled that our school has been recognised for the quality of our school meals provision within such a high achieving arena.
“This result would not have been possible without the enthusiasm, skill and dedication of Shirley Weaver and the kitchen team.”
Menus at the school follow a three-week rota and include healthy meal options, community lunches and themed days.
