A business revamp is proving the best thing since sliced bread for a Northumberland baker.

The Bakers Pantry, which took over J Donkin Bakers in 2014 and runs Andersons Pork shops, is forging ahead with expansion as it unveils its latest refurbished outlet in Ashington.

Customers are telling us that they love our food, they love the new stores, but most of all, they love the friendly service they get from our brilliant team.

And there are plans to open more shops and a new bakery facility over the next two years.

The young brand’s first step was to open a new format store in Station Road, Ashington, in June last year.

It proved so successful that it was rolled out to another shop in Newgate Street, Morpeth, in October.

And in December an Andersons Quality Pork Shop was opened in Ashington’s Woodhorn Road.

Now the town’s Milburn Road Bakers Pantry has undergone extensive refurbishment, providing more space for customers, a new range of products, including coffee and hot food-to-go, and a wider variety of handmade pastries and sweets.

The shop officially opened on Easter Saturday when free Easter eggs were given out and special offers were available.

Managing director David Crook said: “Donkin’s pasties and Andersons’ pies are very well known and well loved in the North East. We want to ensure we make all these products and more always available to the local community that supports us.

“That means having shops in the most convenient place for our customers, with bright, modern surroundings where they feel comfortable.”
