A programme teaching people how to repair and maintain their bikes has thanked the community for its support.

The weekly bike maintenance workshops run in Ashington regularly hold the courses throughout the year.

And following an appeal in the News Post Leader, they recevied eight donated bicycles for learners to practice on.

It will also allow attendees to carry out repairs, while there was a chance to donate another child’s bike to a local nursery.

Tutor Trevor Bell said: “The new Learn to fix your own bike two day course has been well received with 100 per cent of learners wanting to sign up to a longer course.

“Many thanks for your support.

“A great result all round.”
