Blyth inshore lifeboat was called out to assist a 27-foot angling boat which had broken down just north of St Mary’s Island, near to Whitley Bay.

The incident happened at around 5.45pm yesterday. The lifeboat, with three crew on board, was on the scene quickly.

The angling boat, the Ali P, had one person on board. It was towed back to Blyth and returned to her moorings at the River Blyth Boat club just before 7pm.
