Young bookworms will be able to access new books after their local library won a cash prize.
Ashington Library was awarded £100 worth of junior books as a prize for being the library with the greatest increase in children completing the Summer Reading Challenge in 2013.
And staff at the facility thought it would be a great idea for local children to choose titles they would like to see in stock.
Pupils from Key Stage 2 at Ashington’s Central First School attended the library last week along with the school’s reading activist Rachel Wales.
They were also joined by Coun Val Tyler to see first-hand the books which have recently arrived.
During their visit, the children also learned how the library, in Kenilworth Road, is organised and had the opportunity to become members and borrow books.
