In reply to the letters about the refurbishment of Concordia sports centre (News Post Leader, August 13).
While I am sympathetic to the retired bowlers, I think there must be a formula that so much space should make so much money.
Bearing in mind the age of the members, who are undoubtedly on a reduced membership, maybe this space is now financially not viable.
As to long winter months of inactivity, there’s always swimming, walking and low impact gym machines, not to mention cycling during the brighter winter weather.
So there is still plenty to do, just not bowling, which I think is the real bugbear.
The argument just doesn’t hold water, if you’ll excuse the pun.
