BOYS received a lesson in personal hygiene as well as smart new hair cuts when they spent the day being pampered in Blyth.

The day was organised by the town’s Silx Teen Bar along with the south east area youth service.

The sessions were held at Silx Teen Bar and at Headkase barbers, and were run by David Orr who himself attended Silx as a youngster.

David wanted to give something back to the community and took part in the day with staff Darryl and Liam Smith – who also used to attend Silx.

Funding from the Scholfield Trust paid for the sessions, which were free to the boys, however, David donated the money to Princess Ellie’s Trust, in memory of toddler Ellie Long who died of meningitis.

Silx senior youth worker Jackie Long said: “The lads had a great day and enjoyed being pampered. We are very grateful to David, it is wonderful to see him doing so well.”
